Quarter 3 Brave New World Animoto Project:

Quarter 3 Ethics in Brave New World:

Huxley believes that due to the recent development of drugs in his time, will eventually lead to the human population cultivating these drugs to create a sense of happiness, false happiness. His ideas are expressed in “Brave New World” as the drug “SOMA”, the “wonder drug” that once you take it you instantly become happy. Huxley also gets across his point of the negative impact of the use of this drug, as the people in the Brave New World, were basically brainwashed since birth.

Huxley also adds his opinion on classes that people are ranked throughout society. In this he adds caste systems in “Brave New World”, rankings ranging from Alphas all the way to your Epsilons. Where they are few Alphas, and plenty of lower ranked to develop their Brave New World. Since birth these Alphas have been programmed to be genetically more fit than the lesser ranks. This can be seen today as those born into poverty and those born into wealth.

Lastly Huxley also adds his input onto the social structure of the world. In “Brave New World” sex has no meaning, other than that it's a source of entertainment. Children as young as 5 participate in sexual activities, which are called play. Huxley demonstrates that over the years the purpose of sex changed and people are doing it now just for pleasure and etc.. Huxley is able to express his thought from the creation of this book.

Argument Timed Write:

We were asked to support or disagree with Wilde's quote on whether or not civil disobedience was necessary for Humans to progress.

Timeline Presentation: My role on this project was the lead coordinator, in which I managed the 3 groups to form and begin construction of our final timeline.

REFLECTION: In quarter 3 I learned how to time myself while writing timed writes. I didn't set any learning goals for quarter 3. I sure did earn the grade I deserve. The most meaningful assignment was the practice debate. I learned to include facts and hard evidence into my debates to better persuade my audience. I wish we had skipped reading Brave New World. Looking forward to taking the AP Test this quarter.
